Grade 304 contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, providing suitable corrosion resistance for standard municipal water applications. Grade 316L adds 2-3% molybdenum, which provides greater protection against chlorides. This makes 316L preferable for seaside installations, high-salinity industrial applications, or systems with high chlorination levels.
Our products are manufactured according to ASTM A312 (welded and seamless austenitic pipes), ASME B36.19 (stainless steel pipes), EN 10217-7 (welded steel tubes for pressure purposes), and JIS G3459 (stainless steel pipes). We supply MTR (Mill Test Reports) with every shipment to verify compliance.
Direct contact between different metals can cause galvanic corrosion, especially when electrolytes are present. We recommend using non-conductive isolating gaskets, dielectric unions, or PTFE spacers when connecting stainless steel to copper or carbon steel fittings to prevent corrosion.
